A purebred Tibetan Mastiff adult or puppy must be present in your picture. Hands and feet are acceptable, but no human faces, please. The photo MUST BE IN FOCUS. Seasonal photos will be given special consideration. This does not always imply that you should dress up your TM! Seasonal backdrops can include Fall colors, Spring blossoms, or a winter setting. Remember to switch off the date/time function if your camera has one. It truly diverts attention from your photographs.
ALWAYS SAVE YOUR ORIGINALS!!
While using photoshop and other tools to improve your images and create cool effects is fun, remember to ALWAYS save your originals while working with them. Many people are disappointed to discover that their favorite images have been cropped and stored in an excessively small format. Not simply for the calendar, but for any other occasion that needs a larger/unedited file. Only change and work with copies of your files, and keep your originals in a different folder. You’ll never lose a full-sized, unedited version of a treasured picture this way.

File Orientation, Format & Pixel Size
Portrait images are okay, but LANDSCAPE photos are recommended because the calendar’s 8.5 x 11 size and orientation are ideal for landscape photos. Uncropped images at a greater resolution, on the other hand, allow us to crop the photo in the most appropriate way for the calendar.
- TIFF
- JPEG
- RAW
- PNG
It is important that the photographs have a specific pixel size that is suitable for printing. Ideally your landscape photos (longer than tall) should be at least 2300 pixels wide by 1800 pixels tall. Your portrait photos (taller than long) should be at least 1800 pixels wide by 2300 pixels tall. Larger files than this is not a problem and too big is better than too small.
- Landscape photos (longer than tall) Must be over 2000 pixels on the longest side.
- Portrait photos (taller than long) Must be over 2000 pixels on the longest side.
- Photos near or approaching these dimensions will be accepted
- Remember better that your file is too large than too small
We discovered that many users were having trouble identifying the pixel size of their images, so we designed a visual aid to assist them in finding this information in Windows XP. The example will likely be similar for Windows Vista.
