I think I'd like to show my Tibetan Mastiff. How do I get started?
While getting started may seem overwhelming and intimidating, there are simple steps that you can take.
Get yourself to an obedience class! Firstly, it is a great place to socialize your dog in a controlled environment. Learn the basics by getting your puppy trained to walk on
leash and learn what it means to become and work as a team. It typically takes time and patience for your puppy to learn how to focus on you since TMs generally bore easily.
Get yourself to handling/conformation classes/seminars put on by your local kennel club! Find your way to a dog show and be aware of other big breeds that are shown there. Find a mentor/handler and ask lots of questions. Whether these people are directly involved in the TM scene or not, experienced show people usually have lots to share. Bring along a video camera. It will serve as a wonderful tool as you learn the basics of structure, conformation and movement.

Can you give some helpful hints on treats to use for training and the show ring?
One recipe that we learned about came from Erika and her TM Karma. Erika calls these "liver muffins" and she warns to leave the house for about 20 minutes after cooking and open the windows!
2 cups of flour
1 pk of beef liver
2 eggs
1 tablespoon of Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
approx. 1 -2 cups of water
Blend all ingredients except water , together in a food processor then add water until it looks like a thick pudding. Pour mixture into muffin pans. Bake at 350 for 30 -40 min until fully cooked.
